Slate or tile — which lasts longer?
Good natural slate can last 80–100+ years; clay and concrete tiles typically 40–60+ years. On any re-cover the felt, battens and workmanship matter as much as the covering itself.
Do I need a full re-roof or just a repair?
If the covering is generally sound and the problem is localised, a repair is the right call. If slates/tiles are failing across the whole roof, a re-slate or re-tile is better value long-term. We’ll tell you honestly at the survey.
