Roofs & Drives Ltd was built on a simple belief: that homeowners deserve a tradesman they can actually trust. Someone who shows up, does the job properly, and leaves the site better than they found it. That’s been Tom Lee’s standard since 1992 — and it’s the standard we hold every job to today.
Tom started in roofing and groundworks over three decades ago, long before Roofs & Drives Ltd existed. Through those years he worked across the North East, built up a deep knowledge of the trade, and developed a reputation that followed him from job to job — not through advertising, but through the quality of the work.
After seeing how things could be done better, Tom decided to do exactly that. Roofs & Drives Ltd was founded with a straightforward purpose: offer a genuinely complete service — roofing, groundworks, and driveways — under one name, with one consistent standard, and no corners cut along the way.

How we got here
The journey behind the business
Thirty years in any trade teaches you things no course can. Tom’s career has taken him across roofing, groundworks, conservatory conversions, and driveway installations — giving him a ground-level understanding of how each job connects to the next, and why doing one thing poorly affects everything that follows.

Entered the roofing & groundworks trade
Tom began his career on the tools, learning the fundamentals of roofing and groundwork from the ground up. A trade built on precision, patience, and getting the basics right every time.
Over the years
Built expertise across roofing, conversions & driveways
Three decades of hands-on work across the North East gave Tom a reputation built entirely on results. Conservatory roof conversions became a specialism — transforming spaces most contractors wouldn’t touch.
